Fort Lauderdale Tummy Tuck Surgery

For male and female patients who have excess abdominal skin as well as fat, a tummy tuck is the procedure of choice. The tummy tuck flattens the abdomen by tightening the underlying muscles and removing excess skin and fat. Female patients will benefit from an improved "hourglass" contour as the waistline is brought in. Liposuction is often combined to treat surrounding areas of fat bulges, such as the hips, lovehandles, or thighs. For younger patients with minimal skin excess, a mini-tummy tuck is available.

Abdominoplasty, commonly referred to as a “tummy tuck”, is a surgical procedure performed on the abdomen to make it more firm. Patients who can benefit from abdominoplasty are usually those who have loose tissues and/or sagging skin from either a large weight loss or after pregnancy. Both male and female patients have sought abdominoplasty to get rid of their excess skin and fat. For female patients, the waistline is narrowed to give a more hour-glass shape.

During the procedure, fat and excess skin are removed from the abdomen and the muscle of the abdominal wall is tightened. Liposuction is often performed with a tummy tuck to rid the surrounding area of excess fat (i.e., thighs, hips, and love handles).An abdominal binder is worn post-operatively for 4-6 weeks to give the best results.  The binder is removed daily to take a shower. It is important to discuss the procedure and pre-surgical requirements with an experienced plastic surgeon.
